Cirque du Soleil Kurios Brings Magic to Tysons, Virginia

There is magic in town, and its name is Cirque du Soleil KURIOS. The performance is leaving town on September 25, and I’m here with the Top 5 reasons that this is a MUST GO! If you are on the fence, read on and learn why Cirque du Soleil KURIOS is the cannot-miss attraction of the month for your family!
5 – It’s a convenient and family friendly venue
Next to the Galleria at Tysons, you’ll see their white tents, spiking towards the sky, enticing you to contemplate what wonders they might hold. As you approach the main entrance, you’ll see the KURIOS archway stretch over the main gates. From there, you’ll be ushered into a central courtyard, teaming with energy, excitement, and maybe even a performer or two! Once inside, enthusiastic ushers will take you to your seats, and the round tent will guarantee there is no bad seat in the house (great for the littles!). There are several concession options (popcorn, pretzels, cotton candy, slushies) and some really fun merchandise too!
4 – It’s an opportunity to see an all-ages professional artistic performance
We love and support the arts, but with kids of multiple ages, it can be tricky. We often find that performances catering to kids are a little “kiddish” and not that fun for us, and the shows we want to see can be hard for younger kids to sit through. Cirque du Soleil KURIOS is a unique offering that will appeal to the youngest and oldest members of your family. We also love that Cirque consistently pushes the bounds of the imagination. The fantastical sets and costuming will delight children because they speak to the limitless imaginations that children themselves have. Whether it’s a man dressed as a fully-functioning accordion, a woman costumed in haute couture as part human and part antennae, or one of the world’s smallest people decked out as an elegant Victorian patroness, children will unquestioningly absorb and accept all of the fantastical-ness and broaden their own definitions of art, creativity, and imagination in the process.
3 – It’s a musical feat
When people think about Cirque du Soleil, they think about amazing acrobatics (more on that later). What we noticed about KURIOS though, is that it is also a musical masterpiece.Music is an integral part of each act.Sometimes it feeds into a performance and helps it build, highlighting the acrobatics and contributing to the atmosphere of suspense. Sometimes it is sweet and whimsical, helping to tell a narrative or define a relationship. And sometimes, it just makes you want to dance. One of my favorite moments at the show was looking over to see my seven year old snapping his fingers along to the music with pure joy.
2 – It’s hilarious
Circus antics are not necessarily everybody’s favorite comedic genre. But the comedic performances of KURIOS are legitimately funny. Your family will be giggling at the clever and unique comedic performances. A ringmaster runs an invisible circus, a man unintentionally turns into a giant house cat during an attempt to woo a woman, and a pair of fingers put on a full breakdancing show. You will be marveling at the creativity, humor, and comedic timing of these hilarious interludes, and your family will love them as well.

There is really nothing like the acrobatic acts at Cirque du Soleil. They are an unmatched feat of athletics and artistry. The performers are athletes of the highest caliber, and their strength and talent will wow you again and again. Just when you think they cannot do anything more crazy with their bodies and their strength, they will take it up a notch and impress you with something else.
